How Marshall Arrests Work
The Marshall Police Department patrols city streets. County deputies, state officers, and other agencies can also arrest people in or near Marshall. Each agency keeps its own police report. If officers lodge someone at the Calhoun County Correctional Facility in Battle Creek, the Sheriff creates the booking record. So the arrest city and the jail city are two different facts. Marshall is the Calhoun County seat. The Michigan Manual counted 6,822 residents there in 2020. The department says it answers about 7,000 calls a year, not counting traffic stops, across a wide range of service and crime matters. Those are calls, not arrests. Never read that figure as an arrest total.
Where Marshall Recent Arrests Appear
The department's page links annual reports and social media. It publishes no daily arrest roster, same-day booking page, mugshot blotter, or stated multi-day archive. County P2C is the official current-custody route once a Marshall arrestee is booked into the county facility. Want the police report or a related photo? The city's FOIA process is the main path.
| Channel | Photo? | Authority | Purpose |
|---|---|---|---|
| Marshall Police Department | No live booking gallery | Official city | Agency information, annual reports, and contact |
| Calhoun P2C Inmates | May show one when available | Official county | Current custody at the county jail |
| Marshall Police FOIA | Form expressly allows photo requests | Official city | Completed reports and related records |
| Advisor & Chronicle listing | Editorial choice | Local news | Selected Marshall-area reporting |
Use official records first. News adds context, but it is not a roster. A private county page can be delayed, copied, or incomplete, and it may lack the court result. P2C has its own limit too: it lists current county inmates, not every police contact or every person arrested and released in Marshall.
Marshall Arrests Have No Live Blotter
The Marshall police page is not a rolling booking list. Annual reports summarize agency work over a long period. Social posts highlight selected matters, and neither one creates a complete, time-bounded feed. The county's separate RecentArrests module is disabled. It cannot serve as a same-day or weekly list. Start the fallback with P2C for present custody. If the person is absent, check whether officers cited and released them. They may have been moved or lodged elsewhere. Then request the city report and consult the court record. Missing online results can mean release, transfer, data timing, or no jail intake at all. It does not prove the event never happened.
Find Someone Arrested in Marshall
Start with enough detail to avoid a bad match. Gather the full name, approximate date, incident location, and report number if known. Then trace the record by its custodian. Remember that officers may act in one place while the person is held in another, and the county roster may not show the arresting city or agency.
- Search Calhoun P2C Inmates for current county custody.
- Check the listed holding facility, charges, arrest date, age, and bond rather than relying on name alone.
- Contact Marshall Police for a city-created incident record. Use the city FOIA form for a defined report, photo, attachment, or video.
- Ask the Sheriff’s Records Division for a booking or incarceration record created at the county jail.
- Check the proper Calhoun court for the disposition, meaning the final case outcome.
P2C sometimes shows a public image. No photo is promised for every record, though. Bond is a release condition or amount while a case moves forward. Data can lag for a fresh arrest while intake gets completed. The Daily Arrest Report gives the county's same-day fallback.
Marshall Police FOIA Details
Marshall's record route is unusually specific. Its police FOIA form includes checkboxes for Police Report, Photos, Attachments, accident report, video, and other material. It asks for basics: incident number, date, location, parties. A narrow request beats a broad one. FOIA is Michigan's Freedom of Information Act, which opens nonexempt public records.

The city says a completed report may be ready within five working days. No per-page charge applies in that completed-report circumstance. An open case may be denied while it stays open. Victim and juvenile information gets redacted. A FOIA extension can add as many as ten business days. These rules cover the city police record only. They do not govern a booking photo the Sheriff controls. The jail may have created that item instead. If so, send that part to the Calhoun County Sheriff's Records Division. State the date range, person, desired record, and preferred format. Keeping city and county requests separate lowers the chance one office must redirect the whole thing. Ask for a cost estimate on photos or video.
Marshall Arrest Record Form
The official Marshall Police FOIA page shown here explains the request and response process.

This form covers the city record route. It is not a live roster or a display of arrested people. A checked Photos box just names a category. It does not promise release or mean the city holds the county booking image. The custodian can then search the right series. Any denial, redaction, transfer, or fee is easier to explain from there.
Marshall Arrest Custody in Battle Creek
Marshall officers often book arrestees at the Calhoun County jail in Battle Creek. The drive between cities is just logistics. A booking there does not mean Battle Creek police made the arrest. P2C may list the holding facility without naming Marshall as the arresting city. Match the booking date against the city report before assuming anything. Calhoun's jail also holds people for other governments. Federal civil detention is one example. A bed there is not evidence of a Marshall criminal case. State prisoners appear in the Michigan Department of Corrections OTIS search instead. Federal prison and immigration detention have their own locators. Pick the system that fits the custody basis.
Marshall Tips Are Not Arrest Lists
Marshall's Silent Observer program takes anonymous crime tips. Callers can use a codename. Rewards may follow a useful tip. Think of it as an ear for police, though. It is not a warrant list, and it cannot tell you who sits in the Calhoun County jail or who was recently arrested.
Want to check a Marshall warrant yourself? The city's Silent Observer page spells out the tip process, but confirmation of an arrest or warrant comes from the issuing court or the agency that holds the record.

The page takes tips safely but shows no booking or wanted roster.
Marshall Arrest News and Outcomes
Marshall-area newspapers and community outlets sometimes report on police activity or Sheriff incidents. Regional stations may cover notable arrests too. Coverage is selective and secondary. The Advisor & Chronicle directory confirms a local publication exists. No stable online arrest blotter with a regular cadence is published. Check article dates, the agency cited, and any later court reporting. A news photo may be a scene shot, a file image, or a supplied picture. It may not be a booking photo at all. Private aggregators are not custodians either. They may skip corrections or outcomes. No booking-photo gallery appears here, and no removal vendor gets a recommendation. Follow the county booking-photo guidance to reach P2C or the right records office. Arraignment opens the court phase after booking. Calhoun's 10th District Court handles misdemeanors and early felony steps. Qualifying felonies move to the 37th Circuit Court. A release can end a roster display while the case continues. MI-VINE sends custody notices. An alert can lag, and it never replaces the court record. The disposition is the sound source for a dismissal, plea, or judgment.
